Wellness Postcards: The Greek Art Of Slowing Down

Welcome back to Wellness Postcards. This week, we’re writing from Greece, where wellness doesn’t always look like a treatment, a workout, or a perfectly planned routine. Sometimes it looks like a long lunch, an open afternoon, and nowhere else you need to be.

In places like Santorini, the pace itself can feel restorative. Days aren’t always packed with plans, and sitting still isn’t treated like wasted time. There’s room to wander, admire the view, spend time outside, and let the day unfold without trying to squeeze every possible experience out of it.

Meals are part of that rhythm too. Fresh seafood, tomatoes, local wine, and several slow courses turn dinner into more than something to finish before the next activity. The point is to stay, talk, taste, and enjoy the people around the table.

Then there’s philoxenia, the Greek idea of showing warmth and generosity to strangers. It’s a reminder that connection can be its own kind of wellness. Greece’s lesson is simple: life doesn’t always become richer when you add more. Sometimes it happens when you stop rushing through what’s already there.

Why Your Attention Feels More Scattered

If it feels harder to tune out background noise, ignore notifications, or stay with one task as you get older, you’re not imagining it. Focus can simply take more effort over time, especially when you’re stressed, tired, or trying to juggle too much at once.

That doesn’t mean your brain is failing you. It may just be noticing more of what’s happening around you instead of filtering everything neatly into “important” and “not important.” The harder you push yourself to concentrate, the louder every little interruption can start to feel.

A gentler approach can help. Try lowering the noise around you, putting your phone out of reach, finishing one task before starting another, or giving yourself more time than you think you should need. Quiet isn’t laziness. Sometimes it’s exactly what your attention has been asking for.

You don’t have to force your brain to work the way it did years ago. Making focus easier can be a form of self-care too. Less multitasking, fewer distractions, and a little more patience can go a surprisingly long way.

Are You Forgetting More Than Usual?

Brain fog can show up in small but frustrating ways. Forgetting what you were going to buy at the store. Losing your train of thought mid-task. Feeling mentally tired before the day is even close to over.

That’s where Mindful Advantage comes in. It’s designed to help with memory, focus, mental energy, and recall without relying on caffeine. Even better, it’s just one pill a day, making it easy to add to your routine.

A Major Step Forward For Sunscreen

American sunscreen is finally getting an update. The FDA has approved bemotrizinol, also known as BEMT, making it the first new active sunscreen filter approved in the United States since 1999. A lot has happened since then. Sunscreen innovation here was apparently taking the scenic route.

BEMT offers broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays. That means it helps defend against the rays linked to sunburn as well as those associated with premature skin aging. The FDA has recognized it as safe and effective for adults and children ages six months and older.

The ingredient has already been used in sunscreens outside the United States, where formulators have had access to a much wider range of filters. Because BEMT can provide strong protection at lower concentrations, it may help brands create sunscreens that feel lighter, less greasy, and more transparent on the skin.

Products containing BEMT are expected to start appearing on shelves this year. You’ll still need to apply enough, reapply regularly, and wear sunscreen consistently, but a formula that feels better on your skin may make that daily habit much easier to keep.
